Brandy

 Brandy is a very special German Shepherd, looking for her forever

home. She came to us with hind end paralysis but has since regained some of the strength in her back end.  She has adjusted to her new life in a wheelchair with great success. 

She is 7yrs old, loves to run and play outside and cuddle up inside. She is a very loving and loyal dog who has a lot of happiness and inspiration to share.

She gets along well with other dogs and cats and especially loves children. She is a very gentle dog with great courage and determination.

If you would like to know more about Brandy or meet her please ask one of our receptionists, they would be happy to answer your questions or bring her out for a visit.

(NEW from the Island)        Little Lulu

  Lulu came to Canada recently from St Martin. 

This little “Coconut Retriever” puppy was brought here, specifically, to receive a life saving surgery.  She has undergone her surgery and is now recovering wonderfully and will be ready to be placed in her forever home soon.  Lulu is just a puppy so will need a home that can provide her with lots of training and love.  She has won the hearts of all the staff here at Cavan Hills and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how well she is adjusting to her new life in Canada.  If you would like to know more about little Lulu please ask one of our receptionists.

Two more Coconut Retrievers from St. Martin have arrived!!

Carly and Marley arrived in Canada recently from St. Martin and are ready to find their loving families.  Marley and Carly are 8 month old litter mates who have lived together since they were born.  Ideally we would like to find a home that can take them together however we would consider splitting them up for the right families.  Carly and Marley have already been spayed and neutered, respectively, and are up to date with their vaccines.  They are both high energy puppies who love to play with other dogs and people.  If you would like to learn more about this cuddly pair or meet them please ask one of our receptionist.  If you think you can provide this pair with a great forever home please ask for one of our adoption applications or contact laura_scouller@hotmail.com

      I RESCUED A HUMAN TODAY 

 Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels.
I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. 
 I wagged my tail,not too exuberantly,so she wouldn't be afraid. 

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. 
 I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today.  
Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them. 

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past.
I only have the future to look forward to and
want to make a difference in someone's life. 

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me.  
I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars
to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. 

A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.  
Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. 
 I would promise to keep her safe.  I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that
radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.  I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.  
So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors.  
So many more to be saved.  At least I could save one.
